Tour program

Day 1 – The adventure begins

Start your fantastic Norwegian fjords tour with an express train from the airport to the magnificent city centre of Oslo. Arriving in the heart of the bustling city, you can check straight in to your centrally located hotel – only a short walk from the train station.

Spend the first day of your Norwegian fjords adventure with one of our friendly guides, for a private 3-hour walking tour of beautiful Oslo. Experience a perfect mixture of old and new, and visit the historical Akershus fortress, completed in the 12th Century.

Walking through the picturesque town, you will arrive at the main street – Karl Johans Gate. Named in honour of King Charles III John, the street is steeped in royal connections and is home to Oslo’s Cathedral, Parliament and the National Theatre. Next, take in the neoclassical Royal Palace and the famous City Hall – where the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony takes place every year.

Ready for more? After the private tour, you’ll have plenty of time to explore the city’s incredible attractions at your own pace.

Day 2 – Journey to Flåm

Kick start your second day with a sumptuous breakfast at the hotel, ready for your adventure on the Flåm Railway – one of Norway’s leading tourist attractions! Running from Aurlandsfjor, through the breath-taking valley of Flåmsdalen, alongside the picturesque Rallar Road and connecting to the mainline with Sognefjord.

This is truly one of the world’s most beautiful train journeys. Soak up breath-taking mountain scenery, stunning waterfalls and seemingly endless cultural landscapes. It’s not just beauty though – the Flåm Railway is one of the steepest standard-gauge railway lines in the world with 80% of the journey taking place at a 5,5% gradient. You’ll be in awe of its technical brilliance, as you glide through spiralling mountain tunnels.

After this unforgettable Norwegian fjord excursion, it’s time to explore Flåm – a small, almost mythical village in southwest Norway. It’s famous for its stunning and dramatic landscapes, and you’ll have plenty of time to see them all, with an expertly selected hotel right by the train station.

Day two isn’t over just yet! At 4pm, explore the Aurlandsfjord and UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord on an enthralling RIB boat adventure. On this thrilling boat ride, conducted in small international groups, you’ll experience the tales of the fjord narrated by your expert guide.

Before returning, you’ll get the opportunity to sneak between the towering mountains to visit the quaint village of Undredal. Famous for its goat cheese delicacies, you’ll learn all about the fascinating traditions from a local host. Guests will even get a chance to try several delicious varieties of local cheese, all served up with flatbread and jam. Perfection.

We hope you’ve got room left. A mouth-watering dinner is served at the hotel restaurant upon your return. What better way to complete your jam-packed Norwegian fjord day trip?

Day 3 – Out on the water

Invigorated by a perfect breakfast, it’s time to continue your Norwegian fjord tour. And what better way to do so than by exploring Balestrand – an idyllic village on the northern shore of Sognefjord?

Choose between a morning or afternoon express boat, then get the camera ready for some of the most unforgettable sights in the world – away from any hustle and bustle.

Your hotel is just steps away upon arrival, giving you magnificent Sognefjord views in abundance. Enjoy the serenity of the deepest and longest fjord in Norway, before returning to your outstanding hotel for a delectable dinner surrounded by awe-inspiring mountain landscapes. Yet another treasured memory on your trip to the Norwegian fjords.

Day 4 – Hello Bergen

Today’s highlight is the wonderful city of Bergen. Following a hearty breakfast, take a morning departure to Bergen on another superb boat ride through the Norwegian fjords. After taking in magical waterfalls and scenic landscapes, you’ll be met by a tour guide for the next chapter of your Norwegian fjords adventure.

You will be accompanied on a leisurely walk to your central Bergen hotel, before a captivating 3-hour walking tour in the afternoon. As the capital of Western Norway, many refer to the city as “the gate to the realm of the Norwegian fjords”.

Highlights of the private tour include medieval Hansa Bryggen (The German Wharf), the beautifully preserved Bergen fortress and the famous local fish market. Make your way through the unique narrow streets and take a stop at the city park where you’ll be surrounded by charming greenery.

Along the way you’ll ‘meet and greet’ the statues of famous faces from Norwegian culture – including world-famous composer Edvard Grieg, author Henrik Ibsen and philosopher Ludvig Holberg. There’s even an optional 3-hour tour by Tesla car to the Edvard Greig museum.

After the main tour, you’ll be taken on a spectacular funicular ride to the top of mount Fløien – one of seven striking mountains surrounding the city of Bergen. On top of the world – or so it may seem – you can take in glorious views over the city. A truly outstanding addition to your visit to the Norwegian fjords.

Day 5 – Fancy fishing

Day five begins with a filling breakfast, followed by a fascinating 4-hour tour of Bergen’s famous fish farm, travelling by car. Celebrated for its fishing traditions, the authentic farm allows you to embrace the true Norwegian way of life and enjoy learning all about how salmon is bred.

After your marine discoveries, take the afternoon to explore Bergen at your leisure. Venture around the city, surrounded by mountains and colourful wooden houses on the old wharf. If you want a little more direction you can join one of our optional tours to learn more about the historic second city of Norway.

1 review for 6 Day Norwegian Fjords Tour

  1. Suzanne B.

We had a fabulous tour in Norway and all connections were smooth. The two tour guides were knowledgeable, interesting and a pleasure to spend an afternoon with.
As for the hotels, all met our needs and expectations except one. The room we had at the Strand Scandic in Bergen was on the top floor, with no coffee maker, no outside view, and the ceiling was slanted and the room felt very small and claustrophobic. We were surprised, as all the other rooms on the tour had been perfect, with views, coffee service, and upgrades. We did upgrade for a small fee to a better room in the Strand Scandic and were very very happy with it. It had a lovely view of the town, it had a coffee maker, and it was much larger.
As I said earlier, we were very happy with the tour and just wanted to mention this incase it comes up again.
    Thank you, Suzanne
